00:01Everything we've seen so far benefits the entire organization. But we wanted to end with one last demonstration…

00:07…to focus on a couple things that are of particular interest to you.

00:11First, how do you set up these subscription plans, and second, ArcGIS Online now includes the ArcGIS Online API…

00:21…allowing you to integrate your applications, your solutions to interact with all of these capabilities that you've seen.

00:28So please welcome Marten Hogeweg.

00:31Thanks, John. ArcGIS Online allows you to create a custom website to support a collaboration…

00:39…between GIS professionals and self-service mappers within your organization.

00:44Using this console, you can manage access to your subscription, and you can configure the website to your preferences.

00:53You can change the home page, you can choose your own galleries, and you can configure the map viewer with basemaps…

01:02…and actually, your own application templates.

01:07As an administrator of your subscription, you get direct insight into the use of your subscription…

01:13…in terms of the amount of data that people store online, the use of your hosted web services…

01:19…and the number of people participating in your organization.

01:25But ArcGIS Online is more than a configurable website for mapping. ArcGIS Online now includes the ArcGIS Portal API…

01:34…that allows you to build custom websites using the content that you manage and create in ArcGIS Online.

01:43Here's an example of such a custom website, built using Microsoft SharePoint. We're working on this project…

01:49…for the Department of the Interior. And on the home page, we've configured a number of policy topics.

01:56In those policy topics, we configure web maps, applications, and other information products that are easily accessible…

02:04…to the executive user. These information products, including maps and apps, are configured using the Group mechanism of…

02:12…ArcGIS Online. This same mechanism allows us to create personal galleries, given executive access…

02:22…to the most important information that they are interested in.

02:29If you have created a web map and you've included it in one of the web pages, like I did here…

02:35…you've actually used the ArcGIS Portal API already.

02:39You can bring up the pop-ups that you've seen, and access all the information that someone has configured online…

02:45…through simple web pages.

02:49But using the API, you can actually do a lot more. Looking here at a template application that we developed…

02:56…that shows the average solar potential in the area of my map.

03:01And through the ArcGIS Online API, we're accessing the data that was included in the web map to drive the dial…

03:08…showing that average solar potential.

03:12And it's no surprise that around the Palm Springs area, solar potential is much higher than down at San Diego.

03:21Using the ArcGIS Portal API, you can also use the discovery aspects to discover content in ArcGIS Online.

03:30Looking at this website of UNEP, and on the website I search for elevation data in the local UNEP catalog.

03:38I found a few items, but I can federate my search out to ArcGIS Online, where I can find a lot more content…

03:46…that might be relevant for me using the ArcGIS Online API.

03:53So to summarize, ArcGIS Online provides a platform for your organization to share data, maps, and applications.

04:02ArcGIS Online provides you direct insight into the use of your subscription, and last but not least…

04:09…ArcGIS Online now includes the ArcGIS Portal API that allows you to build custom applications, custom websites…

04:16…and futher integrate GIS into your enterprise. Thanks, John.

04:24Thanks, Marten. We've covered a lot in a short time, but to recap, these are just a few of the many new capabilities…

04:33…of the new ArcGIS Online, providing benefits for the GIS users as well as the entire organization.

04:40But how do users leverage these capabilities? The first choice is Software as a Service…

04:46…hosted in the cloud. The second choice is, our users can deploy these capabilities on their own networks…

04:52…and behind their own firewalls. Thank you.

04:56[Applause]

05:01Yeah…pretty neat, huh? I mean, you should think about the business implications of this, because this is…

05:07…as I said before, it's a platform…there'll be millions of pieces of content in it; you'll be able to customize it like Marten did…

05:16…you'll be able to extend it and integrate it into all the Office users.

05:21That won't just happen, although it's pretty easy, as you see--it'll take purveyors of knowledge and helpers…

05:27…to get organizations to come online, but this, the combination of these means, GIS and geography, goes everywhere.

05:36This Maps for Office, I just want to hit on this point…

05:39…it's a diagram that kind of describes what Art has designed and built…

05:44….shows spreadsheets being joined with boundaries, with basemaps behind them, coming in off of ArcGIS Online.

05:53You might sort of think of this as an extension of ArcGIS Online for the Office community.

05:59What can I get out of it? Maps and slides, dropped into PowerPoint; I can e-mail them, using Office e-mail…

06:08…and I can create, using the server capabilities, web map services that then can be disseminated out, again, to everyone.

06:16What's the functionality of it? Point and area maps, dots on maps, but also shaded maps, heat maps, graduated symbols…

06:26…color ramps, legends, all those sorts of things.

06:29This will take the Office community by surprise. I mean, people have tried to put maps into Office before.

06:36Remember some of that, back in the '90s, early '90s? This is…this doesn't require any effort like that did; it's services based.
