00:01Well, as the gentleman said, I'm Alan Stewart with TerraGo Technologies…
00:03…and I'm here to talk about collaboration with ArcGIS and GeoMarks.
00:08First, who is TerraGo? We are the geospatial PDF inventor, an Adobe and Esri partner.
00:14We have a trademark on GeoPDF, and we publish the free TerraGo toolbar which works with any geospatial PDF…
00:22…and even better, with TerraGo GeoPDFs.
00:25We have a few partners, and we have a product for ArcGIS.
00:30The product does GeoPDF export and view and GeoMark export and import.
00:37And which brings us to GeoMarks and collaboration.
00:40GeoMarks are a way of communicating information between the GIS and PDF worlds…
00:46…allowing the two to work together to achieve something.
00:49You can think of a GeoMark as being equivalent to a GIS feature, and we store these in the .twz file format.
00:58That file format store feature geometries and attributes, forms, blanks, and attachments.
01:04Forms are GUI elements that we use in the PDF world for editing those feature attributes…
01:10…and we wrap this all up into a ZIP archive of XML and document files.
01:16Here's a view into a .twz file. You can simply rename one to .zip and look at it in the Windows browser.
01:23And a little sample of our XML over there also.
01:27GeoMark Export lets you export either selected or all visible features from all the feature layers selected.
01:36And currently, all layers are enabled for editing in the PDF world…
01:42…and any hyperlinks or hot links present in ArcMap become attachments in the .twz file.
01:48Here's a view of our user interface.
01:51The GeoMark Export dialog up front, where you can select between all features or selected features.
01:58You select a map and then you select however many feature layers you want.
02:03And if you look behind that, there's an Identify window displaying the field names and values for a feature…
02:09…and you're going to see those same field names and values later in the presentation.
02:15When you get into Acrobat and Reader, you can import that .twz.
02:19You can create GeoMarks, you can edit GeoMarks, and you can save them to PDF or export them back out to .twz.
02:26And there's a sample of our toolbar there with all the different tools on it.
02:31And here's a view of our Acrobat plug-in.
02:37You see there again are those same field names and values that we were displaying in ArcMap…
02:42…and those are coming from that GeoMark that's highlighted in blue in the background.
02:47And we also have a TerraGo Mobile product, which supports GeoPDF and GeoMarks…
02:52…allows creating, editing, and exporting those GeoMarks.
02:56It's available on Windows Mobile, and Android and iOS are coming in the future.
03:01But once the PDF user has created all these GeoMarks or edited the GeoMarks that you exported out of ArcMap…
03:09…then you need to bring all that back into ArcMap.
03:12And our GeoMark Import tool does that, creating a collection of shapefiles joined with tables…
03:19…and grouped under a group layer.
03:22We create a layer for each combination of geometry type and form in the .twz file…
03:28…and any attachments in the .twz file become hyperlinks in the ArcMap environment.
03:34Here's a quick look at the user interface, the GeoMark Import dialog where you select the .twz file to import…
03:41…and where on disk you want us to write the shapefile database.
03:44And a glimpse of the shapefiles and tables and also the layer structure created when you import a .twz.
03:53The good thing for you developers is that there's an API behind all of this that you can use.
03:58The GeoMark Export API lets you test a layer of compatibility with GeoMarks and export it also…
04:05…with a number of different options on that export.
04:08And the Import API lets you bring a .twz file in and create the layer that I showed you in that slide earlier.
04:15There are a few limitations to GeoMarks.
04:18Currently, we only support one coordinate system per .twz file.
04:22We don't support complex polylines or polygons.
04:25We've got limited support for ArcMap symbology, and it's definitely not intended for handling large datasets at this point.
04:33And thank you for your time.
