00:05We see and interact with our world every day in 3D.

00:08And ArcGIS 10 helps us create and manage a real-world 3D perspective to our existing work.

00:15We can understand spatial relationships a little better in 3D.

00:20We can also leverage our existing data and move between the 2D and 3D world to discover information that we might not have understood in the 2D world.

00:29Let's take a look.

00:32So here's an example of how we can leverage our existing information.

00:36These are building footprints that we've extruded in 3D for the city of Philadelphia.

00:42Now as we zoom in and fly around, we can see these buildings and we can even update these building footprints with more detailed 3D models.

00:52So I'm going to start editing, and let's add a texture to this building footprint.

00:58So I'm going to find that. Let's turn off some buildings so we can focus on our building here.

01:04Update this model, and there we go.

01:06So you can see that we've added a fairly complex building to this scene.

01:13So if we zoom and pan around and take a look at this building, you can see that this model's actually quite complex…

01:19…and composed of a number of 3D features to give us the detail that we're seeing.

01:26These buildings were provided by Precision Lightworks and Pictometry.

01:31So let's turn on some high-resolution imagery and place some 3D features, street furniture, trees, into our map.

01:39So now we're going to be capturing information in the 3D space.

01:43So I'll turn on my vegetation, my street feature.

01:46Let's place a few trees here, using the imagery to guide our placement of the trees.

01:52So I'll just click to add a few trees here on the map.

01:56Let's go and grab a light pole here. I'll place a light pole.

02:01And we can manipulate these features in the 3D space to do things like rotate, plus move this light pole, so that it's rotated in the proper orientation.

02:13So I'm going to grab my vertices tool, rotate this feature. So there, we've just moved that feature.

02:20Let's take a look at what we've done now.

02:22So if we go from the street perspective, we can see the real-world view of what this looks like in 3D space…

02:29…our light poles and our trees that we've added here in the distance.

02:33Now we can also do different types of 3D manipulation.

02:39So let's take a look at another example.

02:42So this is a building network. So this is actually the floor plan of one of the Esri buildings.

02:48So I can edit these features, and I see that I've got a feature that's actually got a bad attribute.

02:54So let's update the attributes and better manage our 3D information.

02:58This is not actually on the fourth floor; it's on the third floor.

03:02So we can see this in 3D space and make these changes.

03:06We can also create and manage our data a little bit better in 3D.

03:10Let's add a fourth floor onto this building.

03:14So I'm going to query out the floors, the offices, cut and paste that…

03:23…and the floor lines, and let's duplicate these into a vertical space.

03:30So I'm going to duplicate vertical by 4 1/2 meters, and now we see we've just added a completely new floor or level to this building.

03:40Well, let's continue updating.

03:41We need to certainly update the attributes, so these are now fourth floor buildings.

03:49We'll update the offices the same.

03:52So we're just bulk attribute editing all of these features.

03:56Move this to the fourth floor. Say yes. And last but not least, the floors are now four.

04:04Okay, so we can unselect this and now we see that we've got a completely separate fourth floor entity.

04:10And we can continue to edit and manipulate these features, so let me grab or select a few of these offices and delete them.

04:18So we'll select these features, hit the Delete key.

04:21Let's place a new floor line or floor path in this corridor.

04:25We can leverage the snapping environment that we're used to in the 2D world, now in 3D.

04:30So I'm going to snap to the vertices and the edges of our floor lines.

04:34Let's grab our floor and we can see if we're snapping. Yep, we're snapping to the line.

04:40Drag across and now place this feature.

04:43So now we've just snapped and ensured an accurate update in the 3D space.

04:49Also, update these offices here, so I'll select these four features and merge them together into one office.

04:57Let's update the attributes for this office; it's now a fourth floor conference room.

05:02We'll update this conference room, and there we go.

05:06So this is a great example of how we can manage and create content in a 3D space…

05:12…and also understand relationships a little bit better by just viewing things in the 3D world.

05:19ArcGIS 10 provides new tools for better understanding and managing and creating information in our 3D world.

05:26And I'm excited to see how you leverage these new tools to understand and model your 3D world.

05:32Thank you.
