00:04Hi, I'm Ray, a GIS analyst with Esri.

00:07When I first saw ArcGIS 10, I was struck by how easy editing had become and how much faster I was able to get things done.

00:15Editing is more intuitive because we've streamlined the tools you use every day.

00:19A redesigned task-based editing experience ensures rapid and high-quality data collection.

00:25Particularly for those of you maintaining parcels and their associated survey-grade measurements.

00:31And productivity enhancements have been incorporated throughout the software to help you get more done…

00:36…whether that's precision data capture and editing or design-based sketching.

00:41So let's take a look at some of the more compelling improvements.

00:44With ArcGIS 10, the look and feel of the software has become more intuitive.

00:49You'll notice yourself spending less time searching for tools and less time consulting the help on how to use them.

00:56First, we've moved the most commonly used editing tools to a new toolbar.

01:01This toolbar follows you around as you work to make sure the tools that you need are right where you need them.

01:12Next, getting your edits to line up with other features is easier, because we've added a new toolbar for snapping.

01:21Snapping is now map based, saving you the need to set up rules for each layer.

01:26Also, if you’ve ever found it time consuming to select the right feature on the map, you now get a new pop-up list with a quick way to choose what you want.

01:40Next, editing is more powerful because step-by-step tasks now help you do your work with less clicks.

01:46Finding the right tool, choosing the right layer, and deciding on the right kind of map feature all get easier with feature templates.

01:55The tools you need are automatically available depending on the kind of feature that you're creating.

02:01And this gives you a kind of what-you-see-is-what-you-get editing experience.

02:04Less to manage means you can spend more time working.

02:13Parcel editing gets a big boost in functionality thanks to built-in support for parcel fabrics.

02:19These give you the ability to automate changes in parcel ownership while maintaining very accurate survey-grade measurements.

02:28You can also be more productive because it's easy to use the new editing interface to modify your data.

02:34Let me show you what I mean.

02:37Precision editing is much easier with the addition of a new toolbar specifically for managing the modification of one or many vertices…

02:45…as well as improvements to the dialog that allows you to access and change the coordinates of your map features.

02:52When it comes to describing the map features you're creating, an improved dialog makes it easier to find the fields you want…

02:58…hide the ones you don’t, make valid changes, and quickly access linked information like images.

03:07Finally, new tools support bulk map editing, so you can make changes to an entire map instead of needing to make changes feature by feature.

03:18What you've seen are just some of the ways that ArcGIS 10 makes editing more productive, task based, and intuitive.

03:35I know you'll enjoy discovering more about them.

Quality of video demonstration is to low to allow for reading of task bar titles, which would allow better understanding of the workflow
