00:01This is Lesson 6: Conduct the analysis...

00:04...Exercise 6e: Evaluate the results.

00:07In this exercise we have two objectives.

00:09First, we want to compare your guesses from Lesson 1.

00:12Second, we will examine the five candidate sites.

00:15This exercise begins where Exercise 6d ended.

00:18First, click the Show Next View button twice and zoom to the Lesson1Predictions.tif layer.

00:23The exported map is a raster dataset.

00:26Its GeoTIFF tags contain the coordinate system information ArcMap needs to align it...

00:30...with the other layers in the map.

00:31How did your guesses turn out? You can zoom and pan as needed to get a better look.

00:35When you’re finished, turn off the Lesson1Predictions.tif layer.

00:39This completes the first objective.

00:41Next, we will examine the candidates by taking a virtual tour of the five sites.

00:45Open the RecommendedSites attribute table, move and adjust the table as needed...

00:50...then zoom to Site 1...

00:57...and use the Pan, Zoom Out, or Zoom In tools to view each of the sites.

01:02Use different scale settings to get a good overall perspective...

01:05...of the surrounding area for each site.

01:07Site 1 has good demographics but is far from the river.

01:13The site is hilly with limited road access.

01:17Next, examine Site 2 in the same way as you did for Site 1.

01:21Site 2 has comparatively weak demographics.

01:24It’s about a half mile from the river, placing it in the middle of the candidates.

01:30The site is now being used informally as a soccer field.

01:38Zoom to Site 3. Notice that Site 3 is adjacent to the river.

01:43It has the lowest median household income...

01:45...and the second highest percentage of children.

01:48The site is also right next to a freeway.

02:03Next, zoom to Site 4. This site has relatively poor demographics.

02:08Just like Site 2, it’s about half a mile from the river.

02:11It has a developed residential parcel jutting into it.

02:15You will see that this site is apparently used for storage...

02:18...and is next to a high-voltage power line.

02:25Zoom to Site 5. Site 5 has mixed demographics.

02:29It is the farthest site from the river, actually crossing the three-quarter mile buffer...

02:33...the purple line.

02:36This site is easily accessed from the surrounding streets.

02:43Close the attribute table and zoom to the LARiverBuffer layer.

02:47Save the map and exit ArcMap.

02:49We have now completed the second objective...

02:51...which was to examine our recommended sites.

02:53This wraps up our analytical work.

02:55This concludes Exercise 6e, Evaluate the results, of Lesson 6, Conduct the analysis.

03:00In Lesson 7 we will learn how to automate the analysis by creating a model in ModelBuilder.
