00:01Hi, my name is Jack Dangermond and I’m wanting to share with you the launch of a new Web site from Esri.

00:07It's called ArcGIS.com.

00:10This is a Web site that is a kind of central gateway or portal that connects all kinds of content on the Web that's geospatial.

00:18There are tools to bring it together, to...to first to discover it, to mash it up, to create new maps and share those with your friends.

00:29It has capabilities to build communities, so communities within your organization...

00:34...or communities at large, like in search and rescue or in archaeology or in forestry.

00:40You can share into these communities what you want.

00:43You can choose who to share it with and it retains the security of the Web social networking technologies...

00:52...so that these groups can keep confidential their information...

00:57...or they can choose to share with everybody, if they really want to do that sort of thing.

01:02There is also special viewers, one called ArcGIS Explorer Online, which is very thin.

01:09It's like what people used ArcGIS Explorer with on the desktop, except that it's very thin and...and a works in a browser.

01:18So that technology allows me to discover basemaps, overlay operational layers that are available on the network...

01:28...create new maps, share those new maps, mark on them, relate hot links or REST end points to different objects on these maps...

01:37...and then e-mail them to other people or put them back into a catalog where people can discover your maps.

01:44This is very simple technology, very fun to use, and I think will do something really big...

01:50...which is to connect all of our users around the world around a common portal...

01:56...and allow other people to discover the good and rich and interesting work that our users are doing...

02:03...and...and...and become sort of junior GIS users...

02:09...being able to combine information and share new information to the rest of society.

02:16I look forward to watching all of you get connected to this and use it and, and move to the next generation of GIS on the Web.
